Reaping the benefits of GSHPs with the RHI
save carbon, save money

Wednesday 27 March 2013
The Building Centre, 26 Store Street, London WC1E 7BT

The Ground Source Heat Pump Association organised a seminar on the RHI benefits of using ground source heat pumps to generate on-site renewable heat.

GSHPA invited architects, engineers and those with an interest in achieving a high performance from ground source energy to join the seminar and learn about ground source heat pumps and the Renewable Heat Incentive.

The seminar covered:

  • RHI updates - RHI Commercial and RHI Domestic
  • Industry Standards - the GSHPA Standards and support they offer to a growing industry
  • Importance of design - standards in design; excellence in design
  • The ThermoMap Project, being led by British Geological Society
  • Feasibility Studies
  • Funding for Ground Source Heat Pump Projects
  • Housing Association work
  • Case Studies

Timing of changes to the Commercial RHI tariffs

The commitment of the Minister, Greg Barker, to increasing the tariffs for the Commercial RHI for GSHPs has repeatedly been made clear, including in Greg Barker's video address to the Ground Source Heat Pump Association seminar on 27 March 2013. He has also confirmed that the increases will take effect from 21 January 2013.

However, DECC officials have not yet announced the increases, pleading that they need more time to research information. Full and extensive information was provided to DECC in 2012 and it is very clear that the information that DECC used to arrive at the initial RHI tariffs for GSHPs in 2011 were seriously flawed.

Further details will appear here soon.
